Helping people in prison at risk of suicide and self-harm

The Independent Advisory Panel on Deaths in Custody (IAP) and a national newspaper for people in prison, Inside Time, have published a report on their collaboration ‘Keeping Safe’ which was designed to help people in prison at risk of self-harm and suicide. Supported by the Samaritans and Prison Radio, the IAP called on Inside Time readers for their thoughts on how to prevent suicide and self-harm. Prisoners’ recommendations in this report reflect evidence from, and recommendations made by, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman, HM Chief Inspector of Prisons, the Chief Coroner and the National Audit Office, amongst others.
