There are 404 AMIMB members, who are serving IMB members at 115 prisons and Immigration Removal Centres (IRCs).
The objects of the Association are to educate, inform, advise and support members of Independent Monitoring Boards in the law, the treatment of offenders and all other matters relating to their role. This should enable them to perform their duties in the most competent and efficient manner. AMIMB also issues publications, arranges training events, promotes conferences and maintains awareness of developments in the law, prison rules and associated subjects.
The executive committee is elected at the AGM, and sometimes by co-option. We welcome the opportunity to invite new members onto the executive committee. All members are volunteers. The editor of Independent Monitor is paid an honorarium.
