Prisons and Probation Ombudsman’s Annual Report

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman has published its 2016 to 2017 annual report.

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman carries out independent investigations into deaths and complaints in custody. The report reviews the last year’s performance. It finds that the number of prison deaths linked to new psychoactive substances has reached 79 in the last four years and that it had started investigations into a total of 361 deaths last year.
