Parole Board Annual Report

The Parole Board has published its 2016 to 2017 annual report.

The Parole Board’s role is to make risk assessments about prisoners to decide who may safely be released into the community on parole, as well as moving offenders to low or medium security prisons from a high security prison.

The report reviews the last years performance, and sets out how it is seeking to tackle the backlog of cases related to the increase in oral hearings, IPPs and a surge in recalls.

Professor Nick Hardwick, Chair of the Parole Board for England and Wales said “The Parole Board is making good progress after a difficult period but there is still more to do.”
